Plutarch's Lives is a biography and character study of famous Greek and Roman men from history and myth. In each essay, Plutarch examines the character and morals of a Greek or Roman man. Some of the Greek figures are compared to Roman figures and vice versa in additional essays. Plutarch's Lives also goes by the titles, Parallel Lives and Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans. Each volume has an appendix in the back. Volume I contains an alphabetical index of the biographies in the front.
