A black and white photograph of Merle Alcock. No date, circa 1915-1920s. 7 1/4" x 9 1/4." Original stamp on the back says, "Merle Alcock, Contralto." Photograph is clean and undamaged except for some very slight rippling. Merle Alcock (1884 or 1890-1975) was an American contralto singer who performed with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, and Philadelphia Symphony. In 1915, Alcock appeared with the New York Symphony Orchestra where she became known as a contralto. She gained much recognition and performed at the New York Metropolitan Opera for several years. Alcock was married to tenor singer Bechtel Alcock.. Ephemera. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
