Original cover (envelope) on beige paper with a cachet on front, a beautiful hand-drawn, hand-colored illustration of two figures in a room with vaulted ceiling and decorative frieze. The illustration is signed, "Mrs. B. G." Two Mexican postage stamps tipped in upper-right corner with a cancellation postmark, a green c. 1950-1954 "50 Cts Correo Aereo Mexico; Chiapas Arqueologia" stamp (with illustration of Chiapas relief carving) and a red c. 1956 "80 Cts Correos Mexico-Entrega Immediata" stamp (with illustration of a plane circling the world). Envelope is used and has an address to Robert Schmidt in Ontario, California. Postmarked July 19, 1958. 6 1/2" x 3 1/2." Envelope is virtually pristine and intact except for age toning. A Fine copy. This envelope was sent to California from Mexico. The decorative illustration was drawn in fine black ink and features reds, oranges, and yellows (at least some done in watercolor). The illustrated scene may or may not depict an actual place but suggests a scene from an ancient non-Western culture.. Ephemera. Book Condition: Collectible-Fine.
