On offer is an interesting 1867 manuscript four [4] page letter handwritten by a United States Navy Engineer, officer, likely, named Potts while aboard the USS Dacotah writing to his friend Hiram Parker Jr. who was on leave from the Dacotah. Potts wrote this letter from Callas Peru on January 12th 1867. He writes a detail packed missive to his friend with tales of a man lost overboard, men with injuries, an Admiral transferring his pennant and one of the crew stealing money and deserting and much more.
