Typed letter (5 1/2 x 7 inch) on Morton's stationary dated July 7, 1904 and signed with note by Paul Morton to William Winter. Morton (1852-1911) was an American railroad man affiliated with both the Burlington and Atcheson, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroads. He served as Theodore Roosevelt's Secretary of Navy during 1904-05. In the letter to the American theatre critic William Winter (1836-1917) Morton thanks Winter for congratulating him on his appointment as Secretary of the Navy.
