Original cover (envelope) on beige paper with a cachet on front, a hand-drawn, hand-colored illustration of two traditional masks from the region of Michoacan, Mexico. The illustration is signed, "'Moose.'" Hand-lettered caption for the illustration reads, "Michoacain Arte, Mexico." Two Mexican postage stamps tipped in upper-right corner with a cancellation postmark, a green c. 1950-1954 "50 Cts Correo Aereo Mexico; Chiapas Arqueologia" stamp (with illustration of Chiapas relief carving) and an orange c. 1950 "40 Cts Correos Mexico; Tabasco Arqueologia" stamp (with illustration of an ancient sculpture from Tabasco). Black stamp with "5527" also on front. Envelope is used and has an address to Robert Schmidt in Ontario, California. Postmarked July 19, 1958. 6 1/2" x 3 1/2." Envelope is virtually pristine and intact except for age toning. A Fine copy. This envelope was sent to California from Mexico. The decorative illustration was drawn in fine black ink and features reds, oranges, browns, and grays done in watercolor. Michoacan is a region in Mexico known for its folk arts.. Ephemera.
