Collection of three administration bonds for the Blair family of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. There are two completed bonds and one that is blank. The two completed bonds have printed and handwritten text in black ink on beige paper. The blank bond has printed text in black ink on blue paper but no filled-in portions. Both completed documents dated December 29, 1854. Sizes of the bonds vary slightly, but each measures about 7" x 11 1/4." Each bond is intact overall but has age toning, slight wrinkling, and some staining (affects text but text is still very readable). The top and bottom edges of each bond have discoloration which may have come from an adhesive. Each bond and the entire collection are Good. This collection of bonds pertains to the Blair family of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Administration bonds provide assurance that an administrator of an estate will carry out their duties in accordance with a will or legal jurisdiction. The estate in question named on both completed bonds is that of the late Robert Blair of South Shenango, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. One of the bonds names Martha Blair, Joseph D. Pelton, William McQuiston, and William McLean as being bound to pay the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania a certain amount due from Robert's estate. This bond names Martha as the administrator and is signed at the bottom by Martha Blair, J. D. Pelton, Wm. McQuiston, William McLean, and the witness, A. S. Davis. The other completed bond names Martha, Pelton, and McQuiston as being bound to pay an inheritance tax on Robert's estate to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This bond is signed by Martha Blair, J.
