Boston: Gould, Kendall, and Lincoln, 1838. 8vo., brown cloth, spines in gilt, blind stamp designs to front and rear boards, illustrated; 273 pp + ads + 3 plates and fold-out map; 321 pp. and two (unlisted) plates. Both volumes show moderate skewing and bowing at the boards, which are rubbed, faded at the spines, and bumped at the extremes with a touch of fraying to cloth. One volume bears several small speckles of white paint which only just affect the other volume. In Volume One, the frontis is starting, one plate is disbound, but present and one plate bears a short edge-tear in the margin; one page in Volume II bears a short edge-tear; frontis is detached but present. Hinges are starting at both volumes, with rear hinge of Volume Two especially worn; both volumes are mildly foxed throughout, with a small patch of dampstain affecting both at the top edge of several leaves.
