Signed by Dorothy Mackaill in white ink on front: "To Esther Goodrich, Sincerely yours, Dorothy Mackaill." Original black-and-white (sepia) portrait photograph showing Dorothy Mackaill in a 3/4 pose facing right. She appears to wear a lace dress and has her hair is down. Photographer's imprint in lower-right corner on front: "Richard Burke." No date, circa 1920s. 7 1/2" x 9 3/4." Photo is very clean and intact except for light to moderate fading that affects the lower half of the portrait, a few small marks and smudges on front, a few tiny bumps on right edge, and slight wrinkling in lower-right corner. A Very Good copy. Dorothy Mackaill (1903-1990) was a British-American actress. She was born in Sculcoates, Kingston upon Hull and became a United States citizen in 1926. Her career was most active during the silent-film era and the early 1930s. Her breakout role as a lead actress was in The Man Who Came Back (1924). She went on to have a successful career and also appeared in movies during the era when sound was being introduced. In 1955, Mackaill moved to Honolulu, Hawai'i which became her place of residence for the rest of her life.. Photographic Image. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
