First edition (first printing) of this collection of eight dialogues, published the year after Abercrombie relocated to the Gloucestershire village of Dymock. This copy from the library of 'Friend to the Poets' John Wilton Haines, with his signature and address details pencilled to the front free endpaper. 8vo. 203pp + [iv] publisher's advertisements. Second state binding of brown cloth with a tanned and slightly chipped black-lettered paper spine label, and with the publisher's brown top edge stain. Cloth lightly rubbed at several extremities. Tiny dealer plate to the base of the rear pastedown. Fore- and bottom edges spotted, with some further spotting to twenty or so preliminary leaves, and sporadically thereafter. A good, spound copy. Eight dialogues: 'Famine and Pestilence', 'Minos and a Ghost', 'A Beggar and His Dog', 'Earth and a Crowd', 'Lust and Love', 'Science and the World', 'Philosophy and the Angel', and 'Time and Eternity'.
