This copy is SIGNED by the poet on the front free endpaper on 1 December 1927 at Tor House, Carmel, and contains the following MANUSCRIPT lines from the poem in the poet's hand: "'He is darker to himself than to me,/He is neither a child nor a man, he has no understanding./He is terrible,' he said with tranquil eyes./He intended the multiform God but it was Barclay on the hilltop---."
