Collection of two original notes handwritten in blue and black ink on beige card. Ray Coryton Hutchinson signed each of the cards with his initials, "RCH." The cards are Hutchinson's stationery with the following header: "R. C. Hutchinson; Tel. Crondall 314; Triggs, Crondall, Farnham, Surrey." Dated December (?), 11 (?), 1950 ("11/12/50") and June 16, 1952. 4 1/2" x 3 1/2." One page each. Each card is virtually pristine and intact except for slight wear to extremities and a few almost imperceptible smudges. Fine copies. Ray Coryton Hutchinson (1907-1975) was an English author. His published works comprise seventeen novels, twenty-eight short stories, and one play. His last work, Rising (1976), was short-listed for the 1976 Booker Prize. Each of the notes in this collection is relatively brief. In the 1950 note, he writes, in part, to an anonymous recipient, "Many thanks for your Christmas card! Would you please send me The [rest of book title] (Henry James) from the enclosed list?" In the 1952 note, Hutchinson writes again to an anonymous recipient, "Recent lists returned herewith. I'm very sorry, but I can't at present buy books--too much water on the wheel.". Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Fine.
