Autograph letter signed. Three pages. 5 x 8 inches. Written to W.H. Rideing (b. 1853, d. 1918). On Hewlett's stationary, "Old Rectory, Broad Chalke, Salisbury." August 4, 1909. In black ink. Signed in full. Hewlett (b. 1861, d. 1923) was an English essayist, novelist and poet. In this letter, Hewlett writes to "Youth's Companion" editor Rideing, responding to Rideing's request for a manuscript from Hewlett. Hewlett does not appear to be encouraging, writing that his work may not be suitable for serialization and is more geared for adults than youth.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Fine.
