On offer is a sensational, massive, original scrapbook compiled and created by Helen Denzer who intimately documented the World Champion Marathon Dance held in Fort Wayne, Indiana April to July in the year 1930 and other major marathon dances. Historians, collectors and researchers of dance history and the 1920s - 1930s phenomenon of endurance dancing will find an unparalleled treasure trove of unique information and photos along with ephemera in this massive homage to marathon dancing and endurance contests. At midnight on July 2nd, Fort Wayne held the Worlds Champion Marathon endurance dance record of 1994 hours. The previous record of 1866 hours was made in Canton, Ohio. The beginning of the book contains newspaper clippings about other endurance contests: there are Talking, Kite Flying, Roller Skating, Dance, Walking, Flagpole and Tree Sitting Marathons. The book has ticket stubs, large and small photos, photo postcards, autographs, programs, newspapers, clippings, handwritten accounts and rules concerning contests. There are photos and information about Marathons held in Danville, Illinois. Dayton, Ohio, Gary, Indiana, Miami, Florida and Upper Darby, Pa. The White City, Rainbow Garden, the First and Second Merry Garden held in Chicago. The back has newspapers with headlines about Dance Contest. The edges of these are worn from sticking out of the book. It also contains the card from the famous number 13 team Jimmie and Jerry Horan 181 and St. Nichols Ave. New York.
