Hazel; Parkhurst, Veda; Rane, Margaret : Collection of Three Handwritten and Signed Letters Addressed to Ivadelle Bevens of Yuba City, California. 1898 and 1904

Collection of three letters handwritten in pencil or blue ink on blue or beige paper. Original envelopes on blue and beige paper for each letter also included. Each of the envelopes has a red two-cent stamp, two of which show George Washington. Veda Parkhurst's letter is dated 1898. Hazel and Margaret Rane's letters are each dated 1904. Letters are of different measurements but range between about 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" and 5" x 6 1/2." Seventeen pages (Hazel's letter is four pages, Parkhurst's is three, and Rane's is ten). Each letter is very clean and intact except for a few fold lines (perhaps original), light age toning, and the small occasional mark. Each letter is Very Good. Each of the writers has signed their letters; Hazel has signed hers by first name only. A collection of letters that offers insight into teenage life of the late 1800s and early 1900s. In her letter, Hazel writes to her friend, Ivadelle Bevens, of Yuba City, California about her trip to Grass Valley. Hazel is about 18 or 19 years old. Hazel says that she has been "up town" to see the sights, attended a 4th of July dance, and is planning an outing to nearby Olympia Park. The other letters are also addressed to Bevens and are from two of her other friends, Veda Parkhurst of San Jose, California and Margaret Rane of Whitmore Lake, Michigan.
