Original publisher's light beige paper wrappers. Front cover features a black-and-white illustration of Ira Davenport, the Republican candidate for the governor of New York. Leaves laid in loose. 11 1/2" x 16 1/2." Pages 641-656, complete. Black-and-white illustrations, complete. About three pages of advertisements, many of which are illustrated, in the back. Former owner's orange paper label tipped in on back cover. Pages and covers are clean and intact overall but have slight foxing, some age toning, and chipping limited to the margins of the fore-edge. A Very Good copy. Harper's Weekly was a political magazine that was published from 1857-1916. While its focus was politics, it included a number of general-interest subjects such as short fiction, poetry, artwork, and miscellaneous facts. Notably, it extensively covered the Civil War and was the forum of Thomas Nast in its heyday. The October 3, 1885 issue of Harper's Weekly. Much of this issue is composed of brief articles.
