Top edges darkened,fore-edges much less and therefore brighter and cleaner; contents bright, tight,generally clean with some minimal sporadic foxing/spotting to some page edges/margins - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips,appears unread - apart from my own collation.UK,8vo HB,1st edn,8-264pp [paginated] includes introductory,35 sections/chapters,6 (frntis included) b/w contemporary b/w photographs throughout the text and the book and appendices (A with I-III parts and B - D),plus [unpaginated] half-tite page with publisher's advert to its reverse,a b/w portrait photographic frntis (General Booth) title page with author's note to it's reverse,and a contents list/table with author's note to it's reverse. The author in the Spring of 1910 was asked,on behalf of General Booth,whether he would undertaake to write for publication an account of the Social Work of the Salvation Army in this country (Great Britain).After some hesitation he agreed,planning to visit a number of the various Institutions,and record what he saw,together with his impressions.Conan Doyle advised the author against undertaking the request and not to write the book.Haggard then gifted the copyright of this book to the Salvation Army.
