On offer is a super, original late 19th Century, early 20th Century manuscript homage to the great 18th Century actor David Garrick [Wikipedia: 'English actor, playwright, theatre manager and producer who influenced nearly all aspects of theatrical practice throughout the 18th century and was a pupil and friend of Dr Samuel Johnson'] handwritten by super 'fan' Frederick Harker of Tufnell Park in London's north end. Harker has transcribed extracts from reviews, playbills, essays [on acting in Macbeth given as a lecture by Garrick], newspaper articles, tracts from plays etc., to create and amazing paean to the actor with hundreds of hours to accomplish in a beautiful, perfect hand. [Truly a sensational calligraphic effort given we cannot find a single error save for one miniscule fault in the 164 well filled pages.] We note that there is, in a different hand, written what appears to be the ownership signature of 'Harold Hobson' above Harker's bookplate. This was likely Sir Harold Hobson (4 August 1904 - 12 March 1992) an English drama critic and author who was born in Thorpe Hesley near Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England and read History at Oxford University. He was an assistant literary editor for the Sunday Times from 1944 and later became its drama critic (1947-76) [Wikipedia] making for a super association. Overall VG.. Manuscript.
