Original letter handwritten in black ink on a beige paper postcard. Signed in ink as "Ray." Letter is dated October 4, 1918. Postmarked October 5, 1918 at Fort Slocum in New Rochelle, New York. 3 1/4" x 5 1/2." One page. Postcard is very clean and intact except for age toning and slight surface wear. A Very Good copy. On this postcard, an American soldier, Ray A. Frechett, writes to his wife, Mary (referred to as "Mrs. Ray A. Frechett" in the address), at 757 Union Ave., Bridgeport, Connecticut. He tries to comfort her and sends her well wishes amid his absence. The following is part of Ray's letter: "Sorry Mary, you can't come down, but no 'Visitors' are allowed here at Slocum. Don't worry dear, I know you can't help it, I'm trying my best not to worry. Well Love must close with Love & Kisses to yourself & Baby ... I remain you Husband & Baby's Daddy, Ray.". Manuscript.
