Fothergill Book 1768" Then inserted in a smaller hand "Dy'd the 15th of May 1788, Buried ..." "Robert Fothergill son of the Author. Born at Brownber in Ravenstonedale, Westmorland In the Year 1715, July 1." [Brownber Hall is now a very well regarded Country House Hotel near Kirkby] Another slightly later family ownership inscription to front pastedown. Bound in full 18th century brown calf, very rubbed to spine and and lower board, cup ring to upper board. Upper joint very tender. Pages browned and remains of sealing wax to front endpapers otherwise a good copy of a scarce item that belonged to the family of the author.
