The Society of Mayflower Descendants was created in the late 1800x / early 1900s from individual state societies. The California State Society was formed 1908. Herbert Folger (1858-1922) was a founding member of the Society and served as its historian. The collection consists of four items: A 1918 printed listing of Society membership; A printed postcard (1919) from Folger to a Mr. F.E. Bryant of San Diego alerting him of his possible eligibility for the Society; A autograph letter from Bryant to Folger passing along information about his family genealogy (1919) written on Santa Fe Railway stationary; and a response from Folger (1919) requesting further information on the society stationary..
