Floyd; Attie : World War I Letter, Albany, New York, July 28, 1917

Original letter on beige stationery of the "State of New York, The Adjutant General's Office, Albany." Signed in ink by "Floyd" and "Attie" on front. Datelined July 28, 1917 in Albany, New York. Two pages. Letter is virtually pristine and intact except for fold lines (likely original), age toning, and a few tiny stains and wrinkles. A Near Fine copy. This is a two-part letter with correspondence from two writers on one leaf of paper. One writer, "Floyd," has signed his typed letter on front. The other writer, "Attie," has signed her handwritten letter on front although most of her letter is on the back (her letter concludes upside-down in top margin on front). They appear to address the same recipient, who is referred to as "My dear Ones" and "My dears" by Floyd and Attie, respectively. Floyd and Attie are likely married. Floyd apparently works for the State of New York Resource Mobilization Bureau. In his part of the letter, Floyd briefly writes about several subjects; among them is the war draft of which he writes, "Don't bother any more about my [draft] number. I can't say anything more than I have already said and that is that it is alright." In her part of the letter, Attie writes, too, about several subjects but appears to focus more on Floyd's draft. Attie makes it clear how she feels about the draft and writes, "If Floyd goes I should never expect to see him again.". Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Near Fine (Near Fine). Binding: No Binding
