First Trade Edition. A very good copy in the original dark green cloth, short (2 inch) split lower front hinge, contents clean and tight. An important inscribed presentation/association copy to Samuel Evans "Afridi" (!859- 1936): "To Samuel Evans. My dear Afridi. I send this with all the author's kindest regards. Yours ever. J Percy Fitzpatrick 6 Oct 1899". Evans was a close confidant of Fitpatrick, and receives extensive coverage in the published correspondence.

A very good copy in the original dark grey-green cloth, lightly scarred, newspaper cartoon inside front board, relevant newsclippings mounted on catalogue leaves at rear, rubber stamp name etc to title and frontispiece tissue guard else a clean tight copy. This first printing is relatively uncommon, as the book went through many impressions in a few months.
