First Edition (first printing). A presentation copy, fondly inscribed by the author on the title page: "For Tamara, to show I haven't forgotten her! Ever affectionately Ethel Mannin Oct. 1952". 8vo. 190pp. Green cloth lettered in gold at the spine and with a small gilt-stamped decoration to the base of the upper board. With a frontispiece and nine wood-engraved illustrations. Backstrip ends slightly rubbed and discoloured. With some light spotting to the free endpapers, the half-title, and to the margins of two adjacent text leaves. A very good copy in marked and dust soiled dust wrapper, nicked with a little loss to several extremities and with a short jagged tear. The wrapper appears to be price-clipped, but the price (6/- net) remains in situ.
