New edition, in one volume complete. 526pp., 40 illustrations, including frontispiece and engraved title page by Cruikshank (with additional plates and some plates excluded), bound in 3/4 red polished calf over cloth, raised bands with compartments lettered and decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, upper joint professionally repaired, many of the plates toned as usual, with old repair to page 15 just touching the text without loss, edges and corners lightly rubbed otherwise a very nice copy. According to Smith p. 16, When Chapman and Hall obtained the copyright of Sketches in 1837, they were published in 20 monthly parts. In 1939, they published these parts complete in one volume with all 40 of Cruikshank's illustrations.
