First Edition (first printing). A presentation copy, fondly inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "Jo Martin. With warmest regards and in memory of a wonderful batch of delicious sandwiches. David Cleghorn Thomson, 1st March St David's Day [indecipherable] 1949". Laid-in is a handwritten letter and a postcard from Thomson to the same Miss Jo Martin, one of which further endorses these seemingly spectacular sandwiches. 4to. 79pp. Yellow cloth lettered in black at the spine. With a black and white Ayrton frontispiece and a further Ayrton design on the dust wrapper his first bookform appearance. Just a touch of light spotting and wear to the cloth. A very good copy in somewhat worn, soiled, nicked and creased non-price-clipped dust wrapper, with several inches of loss from the base of the spine panel-front panel (impacting the lettering, but not the Ayrton design) and one much smaller area of enclosed loss.
