tailor in the world.It was their mother Minnie who kept the family together; she was a sister of Al Shean who was later to become a star with his partner,Mr. Gallagher.The boys fought desperately against their destiny.Harpo wanted to be a butcher and Groucho a doctor.As a singing act known as "The Four Nightingales" they were a flop.Then they became "The Six Mascots",failed in Chicago and barely survived the winter.But they found they went down in a big way in Texas.With that act "The Marx Brothers" were made.Harpo joined the act without any lines.As Harpo had shown no signs of histrionic ability this was considered the best thing to do.
This was just after the first world war, and the act,written for them by uncle Al Shean was called "Home Again".
