Text is in French. Original entry card or day pass to the Atrium and Salon de Lecture ("Reading Room") of Casino de Monte-Carlo ("Monte Carlo Casino") in Monaco. Includes printed text in black ink and handwriting in blue ink. January 20, 1920s. 4 3/4" x 3." Printed on front and back. Card is virtually pristine and intact except for age toning and a small bump in lower-right corner. A Fine copy. This entry card was issued to "M. Beau" for the day of January 20, 192[--?] by Mary, "Le Commissaire Special" ("Special Commissioner"). The card is "No. 000752." The back of the card lists the terms of using the card such as it being limited to one guest and that it must be presented at all times to enter the Atrium and Salon de Lecture in the casino. Casino de Monte-Carlo first opened its doors in 1856 as a gambling casino. The idea for a casino in Monaco came from Princess Caroline as a way to save the House of Grimaldi from bankruptcy. Over the years, the casino changed owners and locations and underwent renovations. Casino de Monte-Carlo is still open to this day as a casino and entertainment resort.. Ephemera.
