On board HMS Belliqueen off Prince of Wales Island (Pulau Penang (Penang Island) in the Strait of Malacca, Malaysia; Penang was ceded to the British East India Company in 1786). 7 1/2" x 10." One page. George Bynq (1768-1831) was the 6th Viscount of Torrington and became an admiral in 1821. This document certifies that the "loss of a buffaloe" provided by a contractor was not the fault of the ship's crew. (Also included is a brief biographical annotation on Georg Bynq, handwritten in brown ink on a beige slip of paper measuring 9" x 4 1/4."). Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
