The first page captioned ' GUNPOWDER TREASON DAY' Original full calf binding with a gilt label to the spine and a blind stamped lozenge decoration to the front board. Lacking the rear board but otherwise complete. Single rule border to the text pages with a secion to each side of the text with notes of biblical reerences and space for writing. Several notes in a small neat hand are present including a rather attractive pointing hand drawing indicating highlight points in the printed text. John Boys 1571-1625. Dean at Canterbury Cathedral from 1619-1625. A rare item. [Dean John Boys is honoured with a large impressive tomb at Canterbury Cathedral showing him sitting in front of his library looking away from an opened book] Boys collected edition of works was not published until 1622 as a folio.. Only one other copy of this collection traced [Manchester University Library]. [William Aspley published these five rare books from his his premisies in St Pauls Yard, London.
