Bowman (1875-1968) was an American historian and professor. He taught history at Western Washington College, the University of California, Berkeley, and Washington University. From 1948-1955, Bowman served as Historian at the California State Archives in Sacramento. In the 1920s, Bowman focused on updating and revising the 1862 index of the California land grant records..
