large 8vo. xli, 531, errata [i] pp. Single volume edition. Fine original full green calf binding with finely decorated panelled gilt decoration to the boards and spine. Five raised bands and decorated gilt compartments with gilt title and 'London 1793' to the foot of the spine. Trifle rubbed to the joints and corners. End papers a little foxed otherwide a clean copy internally. All edges gilt with gilt bordered brown end-papers and dentelles. Three bookplates present including the armorial plates of Arthur Griffith Boscawen [Conservative MP] and John Holt Ibbetson [eminent scientist]. A third plate is present under the Ibbotson plate. The centre of the boards also has the monogram 'CL' embossed in gilt. Possibly the third bookplate is that of CL's. A beautiful example of the binders art at the end of the eighteenth century but with no binders ticket or stamp.. Book Condition: Fine.
