His specialties were the Civil War and British-American relations. Benjamin Russell (1849-1935) was a Canadian politician, judge, lawyer, and professor from Nova Scotia. He served in the Canadian House of Commons from 1896-1900 and 1900-1904 representing the districts of Halifax and Hants, respectively. "Great Britain, America, and Democracy" was written by Adams and is printed on Pages 1-30. "Anglo-American Relations" was authored by Russell and is printed on the remaining pages.
