Nel 1792 si trasferisce, in Russia, a San Pietroburgo, con l?incarico di scenografo capo dei teatri imperiali. Qui, in lingua francese, produce i suoi scritti (sul teatro, la scenografia, l?architettura teatrale e anche autobiografici), che in questo volume sono pubblicati in traduzione italiana. Pietro Gonzaga was born in 1751 at Longarone (Belluno) and, after attending the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, he moved to Milan, where he worked at ?La Scala? Theatre. In 1792 he moved to San Petersburg, in Russia, after being appointed chief stage manager of the empire theatres. Here he composed his writings in French (on theatre, stage design, theatre architecture as well as autobiographic writings), which are presented here in Italian translation. 425 gr. xxx-168 p..
