Author's first book 'Salt in my Blood', 1975,enumerated some events of his 40 years as a dockfront reporter.This volume could well be regarded as a sequel and whereas the first volume dealt with the writer's experiences,this has more to say about the famous ships that have come and gone on the Cape route,the consequences of change,and the problems of the shipping industry.Just as the first book found its way into the libraries of historians, shipowners and mariners,there is much information within these pages which has not been so exhaustively dealt with before and could prove to be Africana.
Although the author has now been associated with the shipping and dock industry for more than 43 years,he is not retired.Indeed,he still makes a daily sortie to the wharves and edits a daily feature in a newspaper.He adds more pictures of ships to his already formidable library (a real reservoir of experience and maritime records),some of which excite ordinary interest when reproduced in the daily newspaper.
