[DESIGN] YOSHII Seisen, designer. NATORI-GUSA Ichi, Ni. Kyoto: Honda Unkindo, Meiji 36 [1901]. 25.5 x 18 cm., string-bound Japanese-style, fukuro-toji, printed title on printed covers. The first 60 images from a series of kimono designs by Seisen, published by the important design house, Unkindo. HANAKURABE by Seisen was shown in the design book exhibition, done at Stanford, catalogued in ZUANCHO IN KYOTO. The Unkindo catalog from 1902 indicates that, though this work was slated to run to three volumes, only one had been published by then. The 1915 Unsodo catalog does not include the title so it is unclear whether volume three was ever finished. With beautifully printed color woodblock prints.
