That was founded in 1932 (as per records from catalogs at the Smithsonian Institute) further clarifies the date of this piece. The Young Men’s Hebrew Club was an athletic organization that regularly participated in social and charitable events with the Young Men’s Hebrew Association, and was active in early anti-Nazi organizing. In 1934 the Club took on official sponsorship of an anti-Nazi group called the Minutemen. The Minutemen supported boycotts of German products and often worked with other groups to raid meetings and publicly attack fascist anti-Semitic American groups, such as the Friends of New Germany, organizing in Newark.
