XAN FIELDING : Hide and Seek. The Story of a Wartime Agent

Secker & Warburg, London, 1954

First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 255pp. Red cloth lettered and ruled in silver at the spine. With map-illustrated endpapers and fifteen captioned black and white photographs. A tiny area of miscellaneous marking to the upper board, and a shade or two of fading to the backstrip cloth. Some uneven toning to the free endpapers, and a small inked (!) price to the tip of the front free endpaper. A very good copy, lacking the uncommon dust wrapper. One of the more important and elusive of the S.O.E. titles: an account of the author's cat-and-mouse games avoiding the Germans in the Cretan mountains and later in Southern France, oft times accompanied by Patrick Leigh Fermor (who appears in two of the photographs). Uncommon.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket
