Foxwell,illustrated paper-covered card covers with blue lettering and yellow year date to front,a plain dark green cloth blind spine,rear board/cover with slightly grubbed white background with publisher's Tiger Tim's Weekly comic advert; with negligible shelf-wear,bumping to edges and corners and fairly clean eps - rear hinge cracked.Light,but inevitable rubbing to edges and corners with minimal loss,no nicks,tears or splits to spine/ backstrip.Front cover to a red background, is Tiger Tim dressed as a dancing native Indian whilst a canoe paddled with six of his animal friends,is about to go over the edge of a waterfall.Top edges toned but without any trace of foxing/spotting,fore- edges toned too and with minimal sporadic foxing spots; contents generally bright and clean.UK,thick Qrto HB,1st edn,1-139pp [paginated] includes separate b/w,and/or colour illustrated stories,cartoon comic strips etc.from various assorted illustrators,but the Tiger Tim strips are illustrated by H. S. Foxwell alone.
Tiger Tim is the longest-lived hero of British comics,first debuting in 1904,in the Daily Mirror,the first proper comic strip in a British newspaper,eventually graduating to the front page of the first comic really designed for children,'The Rainbow' (No.1, 14th February,1914.) That comic was finally wound up in 1956.
Tiger Tim is the ring-leader of a group of naughty animals,the Bruin Boys,who in 'The Rainbow' comic were pupils of Mrs Bruin's Boarding School.
