Lucy Soulsby (1856-1927) was a British headmistress of Oxford High School for Girls, who notably opposed women's suffrage and higher education for women. In her first year as headmistress, she introduced chemistry as a subject for girls, warning that it shouldn't overshadow needlework, and hired a new mathematics tutor for the school, Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll), who would later become known for his books such as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
