Kenneth Shearwood was born in 1921 and educated at Shrewsbury.During the war he served in destroyers and landing craft and won the D.S.C. In 1946 he married and for a year and a half became an inshore fisherman in Cornwall.This book is about those experiences.After fishing he went up to Brasenose College,Oxford,read History, captained the University soccer side and played some cricket for the University, once for Derbyshire.
For eight years he played soccer for Pegasus playing in their two Amateur Cup Final victories at Wembley.He has written a second book, Evening Star (see rja1474),which is again about Cornish fishing and tells the tale of a Mevagissey lugger and her crew who fished the waters from the Wolf to the Start during the years 1937-41. He is now (then-c1974) writing a sequel to 'Whistle the Wind',about Pegasus,post-war Oxford and his time at Lancing College,where he is a housemaster.
