Rogers, John E : Original Typescript - Memorandum. Movable Weirs

Original typescript printed on beige paper. Bound by a pin in the upper-left corner. No date, circa 1900-1910. 8" x 13 1/4." Six pages, complete. Pages are very clean and intact. Pin is not rusted. A report on types of dam systems. Compares two types of dams, the Pioree and Chanoine systems. Excerpt from Page 1: "After a thorough investigation of the subject of movable weirs, and a comparison of the 13 different types that have been erected in this and foreign countries, I find that the Pioree Needle Dam and the Chanoine Shutter system are the only types of movable weirs that give perfect satisfaction and keep within the limits of a reasonable cost. The Dam Weir invented by Desfontaines and the Chanoine Wickets worked by hydraulic lifts are the two weirs most easily maneuvered but the first cost is so great as to make them under ordinary circumstances impracticable, so that the comparison is finally resolved to a discussion of the merits of the Pioree and Chanoine Systems, each one having its advantages and disadvantages.". Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Soft cover
