Original publisher's multicolored wrappers with an illustration on the front cover by Robert Gibson Jones. Illustration shows a woman riding a horse in a dark waterway filled with monsters and accompanies the story, "Jongor Fights Back!" 7" x 10." 130 pages, complete. Black and white illustrations, complete. A few advertisements are included in the back. Pages and covers are clean and intact overall. Fairly extensive tape repair on the covers which has left some tape residue on the covers and the first and last leaves. Fantastic Adventures was a science fiction and fantasy pulp magazine that was published between 1939 and 1953 by the Ziff-Davis Publishing Company. The first editor was Raymond Palmer, who was succeeded by Howard Browne in 1949. Palmer original vision for the magazine was for it to include both fantasy and science fiction. However, Browne leaned more toward fantasy fiction and eventually made a new fantasy-centric magazine called Fantastic. After the release of Fantastic, Ziff-Davis stopped the publication of Fantastic Adventures. Fantastic ran between 1952 and 1980, and the Ziff-Davis Publishing Company still operates to this day as Ziff Davis, LLC.
