Illustrations by Miguel Covarrubias (1904-1957), a Mexican painter, illustrator, ethnologist, and art historian. Covarrubias became well-known for his artwork and celebrity caricatures and also helped rediscover the Olmec civilization. Excerpt from front flap: "Old John Riddell, the famous literary parodist and book-reviewer, is found in the first chapter lying dead in his library. Medical Examiner Doremus declares that the position of the jaws, extended in a wide yawn, as well as the fact that both feet are asleep, proves poor Riddell died of accelerated hohokum, induced by a ferocious, premeditated attack of boredom. ... Vance at once notices the walls of the library are lined with the best-sellers of the past year. Any one of these authors, Vance feels, might easily have done for poor Riddell. Which one bored him to death?". Illustr.: Covarrubias, Miguel. Book. Book Condition: Fine. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Fine
