This edition contains the second edition of Rycauts Continuation, bringing this extremely detailed survey of Turkish history down to 1699. Rycauts history constitutes a fitting adjunct to Knolless great work in an edition which brings together the two men most associated in the English literary world with Turkey. Knolles work was greatly praised by Dr. Johnson and its influence was acknowledged by Byron (Blackmer Catalogue) (Blackmer II).
