REEVES, Sims (1821-1900) : A 4pp Autograph Letter to Henry Irving, Signed and Dated March 5th 1882

A fine letter, in which Reeves expresses his desire to see Irving's latest production, commenting on the weather and his state of health (gout) preventing this. He mentions that he has heard that Irving is to play Benedict, and says that Ellen Terry would be perfect as Beatrice. This pairing of Irving and Terry courted one of their greatest triumphs in their respective roles in Much Ado About Nothing.
