Series of four photos mounted, plus a duplicate, of Florence P. Rea (1878-1924) during the 1880s. One photo (2 copies) is a carte-de-visite by William Shew of San Francisco (2 1/2 x 4 inch) of Florence as a young girl; a photo at 5 months by Murry Dunham of Oakland (2 1/2 x 4 inch) in a blue paper wrapper; Florence with another child (Nine Ford, her relative?) dated Nov. 1886 (4 1/4 x 5 1/4 inch); and a photo of her as a young woman by Alisky of San Francisco (2 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch mounted on a gray board 4 3/4 x 7 3/4 inch). The daughter of John A. Rea (1844-1920) and Catherine Ford Rae, Florence P. Rea was a California musician and composer. Toward the end of her life Florence composed a number of musical scores: The Crickets Band-Fairies Listen to (1920); Descriptive Pedal Studies for the Pianoforte (1921); Yakima (Indian Story) for Piano (1921); The Wood Nymphs Harp (1921) with Margaret Gardner; and The Linnet (1924).
