Volumes I and IX. Two 4to volumes; original pale grey papered boards, with lettering in black to upper cover in each case, and similar lettering to the spine of the second volume; pp. (vi) +40, (x) + 116; two folding colour maps in Volume I; numerous photographs in Volume IX. Boards slightly soiled and bumped; a little spotting. Good to very good condition. In November of 1960, the governments of Liberia and Ethiopia submitted an application to the International Court of Justice to institute proceedings against the government of South Africa, on the grounds that the Union [shortly to become the Republic] had, in their view, failed to fulfill the obligations connected with its United Nations mandate over the territory of South West Africa. These volumes represent part of the South African government's response in its own defence. The second volume is particularly interesting, presenting a photo-essay on Namibia and its peoples.
