Original black-and-white publicity photograph showing a scene from the stage adaption of Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey into Night. Andrew Prine, playing the character of Jamie Tyrone, rests one hand reassuredly on the shoulder of Charlton Heston's character, James Tyrone. James (Heston) is shown in-focus while Jamie (Prine) is slightly out-of-focus in the background. In the play, Jamie is the son of James. No date, circa 1977. 10" x 8." Printed description tipped in on back with two pieces of tape. Photo is virtually pristine and intact except for almost imperceptible discoloration on back and a small wrinkle in the side margin. A Fine copy. Andrew Prine (b. 1936) is an American actor who has appeared in film and on stage and television. Charlton Heston (1923-2008) was an American actor who appeared in over 100 movies during his long-standing career. Long Day's Journey into Night is a tragic play that was written by American playwright Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953) from 1941-1942 and published in 1956. The work is semi-autobiographical and follows the lives and conflicts between members of the Tyrone family. Long Day's Journey into Night is considered by many critics to be O'Neill's magnum opus and it won the 1957 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Description on back: "(L. to R.) Andrew Prine and Charlton Heston appear in a scene from Eugene O'Neill's 'Long Day's Journey into Night,' also starring Deborah Kerr. Directed by Peter Wood, 'Long Day's Journey into Night' will play from February 18 through April 2, 1977, and is the third production of the Tenth Anniversary Season for Managing Director Robert Fryer and the Center Theatre Group at Ahmanson Theatre."
