Condition of binding: Partially darken cloth, soiling, small ding on lower right side of top cover (yet gilt is still very bright). Bump to bottom edge of text block. Expected short tears/chips to extremities of preliminaries and pages because of untrimmed edges. However, pages are clean, readable, and text not affected by bump or short tears/chips. Binding hinges are not cracked and are very tight. No stickers or bookplates. No writing or underlines in text. Not a former library book. Overall, this first edition hardcover is in Very Good condition for a publication over 120 years old.
